Me: *walks into waiting room with blurred vision and barely able to see, holding onto Andy with a deathgrip*
Receptionist: "Hi, how can I help you?"
Me: "Umm. I'm in pain? ... I think that I might have a bladder infection."
Receptionist: "Okay well I need a copy of your medical insurance and for you to put on this ID bracelet while I go get fifty million papers for you to sign."
Me: *sits in chair for 10 seconds* *loses consciousness*
Andy: "Nurse! Nurse!"
Nurse behind front desk: *looks at Andy and goes to get the receptionist*
Me: *twitching on the floor*
Receptionist: *looks at me* ... *goes to get nurse*
So I went to the emergency room on Sunday.. for
seven hours. I lost consciousness in the waiting room and everything, so they had to come get me with a wheelchair and stick me with an IV [ you know, actually do their job in the way that they should in the first place when you walk into an emergency room. I'm not being rude, it's true - our hospitals are terrible, and this was the better one. Even my doctor agrees! frightening ]
I thought I had a bladder infection because I've had one before and the pain was similar, but they were all like.. OMG ECTOPIC PREGNANCY?!?! which is serious I know, but after they discovered that I
wasn't pregnant they made me sit around for a good three more hours waiting for some other tests. I had my blood drawn and got hooked up to an IV, peed in this weird toilet thing, threw up on myself, and had an ultrasound. And they
probed me. Twice.
Turns out I had an ovarian cyst, which they believe exploded and that was the reason it was causing me pain. (I was like, "omg,
jadedsilk was right!") Which is highly unusual, because they're not supposed to cause pain, even if they do burst. I also asked them 08314509815081509831508315 times IF THEY WERE SURE THAT I DIDN'T HAVE A BLADDER INFECTION.
I saw my own doctor today, and guess what? I have a bladder infection! I swear they tested me for everything
but what I told them I thought was wrong - they even tested for STDs! :(
Unfortunately there IS something wrong with my left ovary, but my doctor is seriously doubting that it was actually a cyst (something about the results of the ultrasound... I won't go into detail, for your sake.) She's just a general practitioner though, so I have to go see a specialist on Friday... where I will once again get
probed.
